Just when you think you've got life figured out a new situation presents itself. And that's the excitement of living life.
Parents... What is your reason for having your children in sports or music or dance or anything really? Is it to feed your ego or is it truly for them and their development?
Let your kids play, let life happen, and let them learn through their activities that life and people aren't perfect and in fact life sometimes isn't even fair! Let your kids be kids and allow them to get the most out of their activities in their own. The world will be glad you did!
Each day life brings us choices. The quality of our decisions equals the life we tend to live. Be accountable to yourself for making good decisions and live your best life in doing so!
Have you ever wondered why the same kinds of bad things keep happening to you? Maybe you've ignored the lessons that would have stopped that negative occurrence in its tracks!
There are times in our lives when we know we need to move on. Sometimes it's the realization that the relationship we are involved in is wrong or the job we've been stuck in just isn't right for us... Don't stay stuck people! Make a move that improves you and your outlook on life.
Sometimes what we think is best is really second best - thank God there's a wiser power in play that often leads us to a better place than we could have ever imagined for ourselves.
You know... no matter how positive a person might be, every now and then, life circumstances can make you question yourself and your existence. Life can be very difficult at times... that's for sure. When things go squirrelly in my life and I start to question myself, I consciously take a "life break" and go some place that lets me see the beauty of the world again and reflect on the positive aspects of my life. In doing so, I start to refocus on what my purposes are in life.
Something I've worked on in my life is patience. I was not a patient guy! I was a nice guy I think - as long as things moved along at the pace I wanted them to move along... Hahaha. 😀. When you think about it patience - true patience - is a difficult skill to truly master for many of us. It took me awhile to realize that patience isn't about the time spent waiting - it's about my demeanour while I wait.
I went to bed the other night after playing some flag football with my knees throbbing (I have arthritis in both knees) and I began to lament the fact that My best days are behind me. I used to just love athletics and the joy of competing. But here I am in my mid 50's - my knees are shot and other than riding bike or a brisk walk my sporting days are behind me. And I was kind of depressed about that for a day or so. And then I thought - hey - STOP IT...
Sometimes in life doors close. I've had that happen and I remember being so upset that I had lost my opportunity. Years later what I realize is that life has presented me with dozens of other opportunities. That opportunity that went by the wayside years ago that I was so upset about... well it turns out it was just one of dozens. These days when one door closes I say "ohhh I guess that was the wrong door" and I knock on the next one because I know there's another opportunity waiting for me. Life's just that way if we let it be that way and prepare ourselves to be ready for that next big opportunity.
Every now and then I find myself focusing on the negative things in my life rather than seeing all the great blessings I have been given. I guess we can all be that way from time to time. What tends to stir me out of my negativity is the thought that some really special people in my life have passed away; and to be honest they probably would love to be here - on earth - with their loved ones - dealing with life's challenges. And that thought shakes me - and I realize I really need to train myself to intentionally see the great things in life more often. Life's to short to waste time in the dumps. The reality is - there's lots of things in our lives to celebrate every day. Live, love and laugh a lot today people! You'll feel better for it.
