Success has always been, and still is, a topic that I find extremely fascinating. On second thought, maybe it’s not success that fascinates me as much as how people succeed. I believe that’s where the true fascination lies. To hear of an individual, group of people, or company who have succeeded against all odds, even when everything in their environment is screaming “give up! Throw in the towel!” is...
While writing this article, sitting at my desk listening to Pandora radio (classical for studying radio station), glancing out of the window watching Autumn take over the trees, I can’t help but to think about August 2011.
In hindsight 2011 was the year that changed everything. It was the year that landed me right here typing this article. The summer of 2011 was the year that helped me become a four-time author. 2011 was the year that helped me get my...
Born and raised in a Christian church there was a scripture that was paraphrased quite often: some things come only by fasting and praying. For two decades I heard this paraphrased scripture come across the pulpit. As a child and even early in my adulthood the scripture never really struck home. Many preachers gave their spin on the passage, but all in all, they all seem to tied it back to the same theme, that something needs to happen before something else happens. That all made sense to me, there wasn’t a misunderstanding of the passage. Yet for some reason I never applied the passage of scripture to my life, until a few months ago.
Staying motivated is not always easy. I know for me at times it can be a bit challenging. The hardest periods in my life to stay motivated are during some of life’s most difficult times or I’m facing a pressing issue and it’s weighing on me mentally. These are times that I really have to zero in, stay focus, and remain motivated. To help with my motivation I read books, blogs, magazines, and just about anything that could feed my soul. However, I understand, not everyone can make it to a book, podcast, or magazine. For that reason, I offer you 26 quick gems to help keep you self-motivated. I offer you the ABC’s of self-motivation.
It’s been said that the two most happiest times in an individual’s life is the day they were born and the day they discover why they were born. Have you ever questioned yourself, asking, “there has to be more to life than this?” It has to be more to life than just waking up day after day going to work coming back home going to sleep and doing it all over again. There has to be more to life than paying bills. There has to more to life than going to church or any other religious institution.
This month will make my family and I one year anniversary of being a blended family. This is truly worth a celebration. I would be lying if I said it was all peaches and cream. During the past year we have had our share of family woes. There were some days that were just downright overwhelming; I asked myself what the hell did I get myself into?
The moment a woman learns that she has been blessed to become a mother; the count down to a new life begins. I’ve been told that it feels as if a million and one emotions flood her being all at one time. Soon to be mommies have also shared that after thinking about how life is soon to change mommy and baby websites and subscriptions to newsletters become their new best friend. These websites and subscriptions assist with possible names, health related questions, and help her gauge her baby’s growth stage at a specific time.
Over the course of my short time here on this beautiful planet I have learned that we human beings when it has to do with achieving goals, dreams, and aspirations are driven by two factors: 1) Our Faith or 2) Our Fears. I’ve also learned that faith is a verb; an action word. The definition of faith is to have complete trust and confidence in…. The bible defines faith as confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see! There’s a famous saying, you may have used it before, I know I have, that states, “fake it, until you make it.” I see you nodding your head.
“I’m pregnant!” What a life altering phrase? This phrase can cause an abundance of emotions and thoughts to flood the mind all at one time. For many, this phrase has brought upon feelings of great happiness and joy. However, for others there are other feelings and questions that come about for example, “What if I fail as a parent?” This question can chase away restful nights and peaceful mornings. This question can cause one to begin looking for escape options. This one question can lead to a plethora of other questions. And before you realize you’re holding a hefty bag of questions without any answers in sight.
It’s that time of year again when many families break away from their normal weekend excursions to celebrate their hero. This hero is not perfect. He makes mistakes, plenty of them at that. His decisions may be questioned quietly. His wardrobe may lack the latest fashion. Perhaps his cooking abilities encouraged those who are hungry to remain hungry. Although perfection isn’t his goal that he could ever reach, daily he strives to make his today better than his yesterday and his tomorrow better than his today. For these reasons and many others, we take this time to salute the champion father.
